Just because I’m not always writing here doesn’t mean I’m not writing! Here is a look at some reviews I’ve written elsewhere.

On Slide To Play:

Ghostbusters: Paranormal Blast – An AR-styled game for the iPhone/iPad in which you bust ghosts in the environment around it. This game has a lot going for it, but…

Party Wave – The first iPhone game to come from Mistwalker Corporation and Hironobu Sakaguchi is a game about surfing. Not a surfing RPG… just a surfing game with iffy touch controls.

Electric City: The Revolt – Tom Hanks’ new web-based animated series is kind of awesome. This tie-in, however, is not.

Fix-It Felix Jr. – Based on the video game featured in the upcoming Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph, Fix-It Felix Jr. is a game based on the classic arcade style of the early 80’s. However, like many ports, it’s not quite as good as the “original,” i.e. the version of the game featured on the movie’s website.

On Mario’s Hat:

Pokémon Conquest – While I’ve never really sought to “catch ’em all,” whether I “gotta” or not, I’m really digging this side-game, and hope there will be more.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II – A gorgeous, fun game with some glaring flaws. I love playing it, but at the same time, I don’t know if I’ll ever finish it. Click to read what I mean.

The Legend of Zelda – Perhaps less a review than a love letter to a classic, one which I still prefer over many other series installments to this day.

Johnny Kung Fu – WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler’s theme song proclaims “I am perfection,” so maybe he qualifies as the kind of gamer this title was made for. This one can be pretty tough, and there is very, very little room for error as you race to make it to the top of the tower in under an hour.

And that’s all for now (though you can click here to find more of my Slide to Play work), but I’ll try to bring you more as they come!
