Mustn't sneeze... mustn't...No news on PMO tonight, I’m afraid.

See, I’d been working on an article, which is now available for your enjoyment. Unfortunately, trying to work with code and doing it with WordPress is a [email protected]#$&! nightmare. WordPress is like a child with ADD that acts on his own and rationalizes things like “if a teaspoon of sugar makes these cookies taste good, a five-pound bag should make them taste REALLY good,” and then acts upon it.

I won’t go on and on about it here, if you want the rest of the rant, go visit my LiveJournal.

Anyway, about the article itself. Super Mario 2 has been a longtime favorite of mine, and I felt like it deserved its due. It came out in October of 1988, so I kind of just missed the boat on that, but I didn’t realize it until October was nearly finished. *cough*

Like I said, I put a lot of work into this one… more than I ever thought would be needed. I hope it’s a fun read, maybe make you see the game a little differently, and hopefully the visuals work well for you to.

Now I’m going to bed. I’m worn out.

That was a great article, I hadn’t realized that they changed it so much when they brought it to the GBA. Super Mario Bros 2 is the only sidescrolling Mario game I’ve beaten come to think about it.

  • Delta

I think I liked SMB2 better than SMB3, mainly because of the nice, bouncey (yes, bouncey) music and the different-looking characters.

Good article. Who knows where Mario would be if Doki Doki Panic was never produced.

…interesting, I wasn’t e-notified of Kaisel’s comment. Anyway, yes, Super Mario Advance is a must if you loved SMB2. Glad you liked the article.

Delta> One of my fondest memories of the game was before ever playing it, seeing a single screenshot on a Nintendo pack-in poster the rental store had in their window in which I thought Mario was taking out Jason from Friday the 13th(a Shy-Guy in actuality). That just made Mario seem bad-ass, somehow.

…of course, I was young and mistaken in that it’s Freddy who haunts dreams, but I never cared for those movies all that much, anyway.

Sigh, I wish I could find a copy of that poster. Hot Topic ought to reproduce those…

Anyway, glad you liked it. And just think, Birdo might actually be Yoshi’s direct predecessor.
