1. Go Nintendo has a special video feature up called Wii History, which is shown in three parts.

I laughed at Morgan Webb’s comment about the “Revolution” controller at the end of the first part… if only she knew…

  2. Go Nintendo also has a pair of episodes of Captain N up for your viewing pleasure, called The Most Dangerous Game Master and How’s Bayou.
  3. GN links to a phat music video by Aziz and DJ NES, paying oldschool homage to the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Um… yo.

    Power Glove = Diss!

  4. Another neat video is the original creation The Legend of Zelda: A Wii Adventure, showing what happens when the Hero of the Wind’s sister discovers a Wii remote while fishing, and Hyrulian hijinx ensues.
  5. If you ever get tired of choosing between playing Zelda or Animal Crossing, maybe this solution will work for you.

…seems kind of pointless to have so much fence, though.

  6. A neat tribute to Mario is on YouTube, Mario Keibetsu. Lots of commercial and cutscene footage here, including some neat Japanese stuff.

Go Mario Go is largely similar, but to a remix of one of the Super Mario Land stage themes, complete with original lyrics.

  7. And yet MORE Mario. Anyone remember the opening to The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3?

Personally, that was my favorite of the three Mario toons.

  8. Mama mia, more Mario. This one’s an NES Super Mario Bros. 2 speedrun that’s pretty impressive…
  9. I’ve heard disputes to the legitimacy of this one, but funny nonetheless. Peter Griffin tries to find a missing sock, and meets you-know-who.
  10. And that makes a good segue into the next few vids.

  11. Anyone remember Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure? I don’t care what he did, that movie’s still a classic. But anyway, ever wonder what happened to that breakfast machine?
  12. This is why you don’t take coupons from giant chickens.

    …seriously. It can haunt you.

  13. The Legend of Zelda.

    13 episodes.

    1 catchphrase.

    Repeated many, many times.

Kind of staggering, isn’t it? Just over 3 hours or so of cartoons, and he says it that many times… I don’t even use the word “and” that many times in three hours.

And that’ll do for now.

That Family Guy clip isn’t from the show, but it’s still funny. In the actual episode that dryer leads to Narnia.

As for the Super Mario 3 opening, man does that bring back memories. Every now and then the opening lines pop up in my brain… “Everyone thought that King Koopa had left the Mushroom Kingdom, but then his Doomship attacked; King Koopa was back!”

Ah. They really ought to do something with Mario on there, then.

And that was one of my favorite openings as well. Loved the music, and just how sort of dramatic they made it, without losing the Mario feel.

Yeah, that Family Guy clip with Mario was all the way back from the 1st season, “Mind Over Murder.” For some reason those first four episode titles all had something to do with death rather than the actual content of the episode. And yeah, MattG’s right, it was originally a Narnia gag.

Come to think of it, I don’t know if they’ve ever done a Mario gag on the show! I mean, Futuruma’s had a ton of gaming jokes thrown in, but I’m really having a hard time recalling any from Family Guy. Odd, since they do just about everything else nostalgic…

The most obvious one I remember from Family Guy is Stewie cycling through a game of DOOM. Otherwise, I got nothing. However, they do take a few shots at gamers in the video game.

Also, now you know that if you ever want to have a fun drinking game, pop in the Zelda TV Show DVD’s and take a shot everytime Link says his little catchphrase. Last person to pass out or throw up wins. (shot)
